Surah At-Tariq - English Translation by Rowwad Translation Center
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ
By the sky and the night comer –
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 1
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ
and how do you know what the night comer is
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 2
ٱلنَّجۡمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ
It is the star of piercing brightness –
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 3
إِن كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ لَّمَّا عَلَيۡهَا حَافِظٞ
there is no soul except that there is a watcher over it
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 4
فَلۡيَنظُرِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ
Let man reflect on what he was created from
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 5
خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٖ دَافِقٖ
He was created from a spurting fluid
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 6
يَخۡرُجُ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ ٱلصُّلۡبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ
emerging from between the backbone and the ribs
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 7
إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجۡعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٞ
Indeed, Allah is able to bring him back to life
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 8
يَوۡمَ تُبۡلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ
On the Day when all secrets will be disclosed
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 9
فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٖ وَلَا نَاصِرٖ
he will then have no power, nor any helper
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 10
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجۡعِ
By the sky and its recurring rain
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 11
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدۡعِ
and by the earth that cracks open [with the sprout of plants]
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 12
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلٞ فَصۡلٞ
Indeed, this [Qur’an] is a decisive word
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 13
وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلۡهَزۡلِ
which is not for amusement
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 14
إِنَّهُمۡ يَكِيدُونَ كَيۡدٗا
Indeed, they are devising a plan
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 15
وَأَكِيدُ كَيۡدٗا
I am too devising a plan
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 16
فَمَهِّلِ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ أَمۡهِلۡهُمۡ رُوَيۡدَۢا
So bear with the disbelievers, and respite them for a while
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 17
