Surah At-Tariq - English Translation by Mir Aneesuddin
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ
By the sky and the Taariq
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 1
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ
And what will make you realize what Taariq is
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 2
ٱلنَّجۡمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ
(It is) the piercing star
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 3
إِن كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ لَّمَّا عَلَيۡهَا حَافِظٞ
There is not a single soul which does not have a custodian over it
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 4
فَلۡيَنظُرِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ
So let man see from what he was created
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 5
خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٖ دَافِقٖ
He was created from gushing water (fluid)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 6
يَخۡرُجُ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ ٱلصُّلۡبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ
that comes out from in between the loins and the ribs
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 7
إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجۡعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٞ
He is certainly able to return him, (and make him face)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 8
يَوۡمَ تُبۡلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ
the day, (when) secrets will be examined
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 9
فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٖ وَلَا نَاصِرٖ
then there will neither be strength nor a helper for him
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 10
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجۡعِ
By the sky that returns (the water in the form of rain)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 11
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدۡعِ
and the earth that splits (due to vegetation)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 12
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلٞ فَصۡلٞ
this (Quran) is certainly a decisive statement
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 13
وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلۡهَزۡلِ
and it is not (something to be taken as) a joke
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 14
إِنَّهُمۡ يَكِيدُونَ كَيۡدٗا
They certainly plot a plot
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 15
وَأَكِيدُ كَيۡدٗا
and I (too) plot a plot
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 16
فَمَهِّلِ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ أَمۡهِلۡهُمۡ رُوَيۡدَۢا
So give time to the disbelievers, give them time for a while
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 17
