Surah At-Tariq - English Translation by Abdul Hye
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ
By the heaven and the night-comer (the bright star)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 1
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ
and what will make you know what night-comer is
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 2
ٱلنَّجۡمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ
(It is) the star of piercing brightness
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 3
إِن كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ لَّمَّا عَلَيۡهَا حَافِظٞ
There is no human being but has a protector (angel) over him
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 4
فَلۡيَنظُرِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ
So let a person see from what he is created
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 5
خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٖ دَافِقٖ
He is created from an emitted fluid
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 6
يَخۡرُجُ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ ٱلصُّلۡبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ
that is produced from between the back-bone and the ribs
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 7
إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجۡعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٞ
Surely, (Allah) is Able to bring a person back (to life)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 8
يَوۡمَ تُبۡلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ
on the Day when all the secrets will be examined
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 9
فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٖ وَلَا نَاصِرٖ
he will have neither power, nor any helper (to save from punishment)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 10
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجۡعِ
By the sky (with rain clouds) with the returning rain (again and again)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 11
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدۡعِ
and by the earth which splits (for springs or growth of trees and plants)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 12
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلٞ فَصۡلٞ
surely! this (Qur’an) is the Word that separates (truth from falsehood)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 13
وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلۡهَزۡلِ
and it is not for amusement
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 14
إِنَّهُمۡ يَكِيدُونَ كَيۡدٗا
These (unbelievers) are plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 15
وَأَكِيدُ كَيۡدٗا
and I too am plotting a plan
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 16
فَمَهِّلِ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ أَمۡهِلۡهُمۡ رُوَيۡدَۢا
Give respite to the disbelievers. Give respite to them gently (for a while)
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 17
