Surah At-Tariq - English Translation by Mustafa Khattab Allah Edition
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ
By the heaven and the nightly star
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 1
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ
And what will make you realize what the nightly star is
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 2
ٱلنَّجۡمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ
˹It is˺ the star of piercing brightness
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 3
إِن كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ لَّمَّا عَلَيۡهَا حَافِظٞ
There is no soul without a vigilant angel ˹recording everything˺
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 4
فَلۡيَنظُرِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ
Let people then consider what they were created from
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 5
خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٖ دَافِقٖ
˹They were˺ created from a spurting fluid
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 6
يَخۡرُجُ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ ٱلصُّلۡبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ
stemming from between the backbone and the ribcage
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 7
إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجۡعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٞ
Surely He is fully capable of bringing them back ˹to life˺
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 8
يَوۡمَ تُبۡلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ
on the Day all secrets will be disclosed
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 9
فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٖ وَلَا نَاصِرٖ
Then one will have neither power nor ˹any˺ helper
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 10
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجۡعِ
By the sky with its recurring cycles
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 11
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدۡعِ
and the earth with its sprouting plants
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 12
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلٞ فَصۡلٞ
Surely this ˹Quran˺ is a decisive word
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 13
وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلۡهَزۡلِ
and is not to be taken lightly
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 14
إِنَّهُمۡ يَكِيدُونَ كَيۡدٗا
They are certainly devising ˹evil˺ plans
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 15
وَأَكِيدُ كَيۡدٗا
but I too am planning
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 16
فَمَهِّلِ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ أَمۡهِلۡهُمۡ رُوَيۡدَۢا
So bear with the disbelievers ˹O Prophet˺. Let them be for ˹just˺ a little while
Surah At-Tariq, Verse 17
