Surah Al-Mursalat - English Translation by Dr Kamal Omar

وَٱلۡمُرۡسَلَٰتِ عُرۡفٗا

Act as a witness those personalities who are sent forth and are well-known
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 1

فَٱلۡعَٰصِفَٰتِ عَصۡفٗا

So, the personalities who perform with full force and capacity — in full force and capacity
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 2

وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ نَشۡرٗا

And the personalities who broadcast (the Message of Allah) in full broadcast
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 3

فَٱلۡفَٰرِقَٰتِ فَرۡقٗا

So, the personalities that make manifest the difference (between right and wrong, Light and darkness, and knowledge and ignorance) in complete separation
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 4

فَٱلۡمُلۡقِيَٰتِ ذِكۡرًا

So, the personalities that bring to view right in front, (the) Zikr (‘Message’) —
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 5

عُذۡرًا أَوۡ نُذۡرًا

as an excuse (i.e., performance of duty) or as a warning
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 6

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٞ

Surely, whatever you are promised (through the above personalities) indeed (that is) something which must happen
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 7

فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتۡ

So, when the stars are made to lose their light
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 8

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتۡ

and when the heaven is made to develop cracks
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 9

وَإِذَا ٱلۡجِبَالُ نُسِفَتۡ

and when the mountains are broken and scattered as dust and debris
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 10

وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتۡ

and when the Messengers are called together on the specified time
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 11

لِأَيِّ يَوۡمٍ أُجِّلَتۡ

For what Day the term stood specified
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 12

لِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ

For the Day of sorting out (Youmul Fasl)
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 13

وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا يَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ

And what explained you what is Youmul Fasl
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 14

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers (of Al-Kitab, and the Last Day)
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 15

أَلَمۡ نُهۡلِكِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ

Did We not destroy the initial people
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 16

ثُمَّ نُتۡبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ

Then We bring in their place of authority, some later people
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 17

كَذَٰلِكَ نَفۡعَلُ بِٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ

Thus do We deal with the transgressors
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 18

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 19

أَلَمۡ نَخۡلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٖ مَّهِينٖ

Did We not create you from an insignificant fluid
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 20

فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُ فِي قَرَارٖ مَّكِينٍ

Then We placed it in the site of gestation —
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 21

إِلَىٰ قَدَرٖ مَّعۡلُومٖ

for a well-known term (of pregnancy)
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 22

فَقَدَرۡنَا فَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡقَٰدِرُونَ

Then We assessed and determined (the various stages and processes of intra-uterine life and the signals for delivery); then (We proved to be) the excellent Assessors and those Who determine
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 23

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 24

أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ كِفَاتًا

Have We not made the earth as a den of storage —
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 25

أَحۡيَآءٗ وَأَمۡوَٰتٗا

for the living ones, and the dead ones
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 26

وَجَعَلۡنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ شَٰمِخَٰتٖ وَأَسۡقَيۡنَٰكُم مَّآءٗ فُرَاتٗا

And We placed therein mountains firmly fixed and rising high. And We made you drink water, sweet and palatable
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 27

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 28

ٱنطَلِقُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ

(It will be announced to the disbelievers on that Day): Proceed towards what you had been denying thereof
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 29

ٱنطَلِقُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ ظِلّٖ ذِي ثَلَٰثِ شُعَبٖ

Proceed to a shadow possessing three compartments
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 30

لَّا ظَلِيلٖ وَلَا يُغۡنِي مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ

not one providing deep shade and nor it gives protection against the fierce flame of Fire
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 31

إِنَّهَا تَرۡمِي بِشَرَرٖ كَٱلۡقَصۡرِ

Verily, it (i.e., the Hell) throws about sparks simulating a (huge) castle
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 32

كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَٰلَتٞ صُفۡرٞ

as if those are camels in groups, of light yellow colour
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 33

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 34

هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ

This becomes the Day — they shall not speak
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 35

وَلَا يُؤۡذَنُ لَهُمۡ فَيَعۡتَذِرُونَ

and nor permission shall be granted unto them so that they may bring some excuse
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 36

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 37

هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِۖ جَمَعۡنَٰكُمۡ وَٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ

This is the Day of Decision (Youmul Fasl); We have collected you (altogether) as well as the initial people (alongwith you)
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 38

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمۡ كَيۡدٞ فَكِيدُونِ

So if a plot became (of some benefit) for you, then prepare against Me
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 39

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 40

إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي ظِلَٰلٖ وَعُيُونٖ

Verily, Al-Muttaqun shall be amidst shades and springs
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 41

وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشۡتَهُونَ

and fruits out of that which they may desire
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 42

كُلُواْ وَٱشۡرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـَٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ

Eat and drink in happiness and joy because of what you had been doing (in your worldly life)
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 43

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ

Verily, We — thus We reward Al-Muhsinun
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 44

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ

Woe that Day to the deniers
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 45

كُلُواْ وَتَمَتَّعُواْ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجۡرِمُونَ

(O you who are heedless to the Book of Allah in your day to day affairs in the world)! Eat and be benefited a little. Verily, you are Mujrimun
Surah Al-Mursalat, Verse 46
