Surah An-Naba - English Translation by Abdul Hye
عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
                  About what are they asking (one another)                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 1
                
عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
                  About the great news (Islam)                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 2
                
ٱلَّذِي هُمۡ فِيهِ مُخۡتَلِفُونَ
                  about which they disagree                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 3
                
كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ
                  Nay, they will come to know                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 4
                
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ
                  nay, again, they will come to know (very soon)                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 5
                
أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مِهَٰدٗا
                  Have not We made the earth like a bed                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 6
                
وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَوۡتَادٗا
                  the mountains as pegs                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 7
                
وَخَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجٗا
                  created you in pairs                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 8
                
وَجَعَلۡنَا نَوۡمَكُمۡ سُبَاتٗا
                  made your sleep for rest                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 9
                
وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلَّيۡلَ لِبَاسٗا
                  made the night as a covering                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 10
                
وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشٗا
                  made the day (to work) for livelihood                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 11
                
وَبَنَيۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعٗا شِدَادٗا
                  built above you 7 strong (heavens)                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 12
                
وَجَعَلۡنَا سِرَاجٗا وَهَّاجٗا
                  placed in it a shinning lamp (sun)                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 13
                
وَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلۡمُعۡصِرَٰتِ مَآءٗ ثَجَّاجٗا
                  sent down abundant water from the clouds                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 14
                
لِّنُخۡرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبّٗا وَنَبَاتٗا
                  thereby to produce corn and vegetation in it                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 15
                
وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلۡفَافًا
                  and gardens of thick growth                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 16
                
إِنَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ كَانَ مِيقَٰتٗا
                  Surely, the Day of decision is a fixed time                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 17
                
يَوۡمَ يُنفَخُ فِي ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأۡتُونَ أَفۡوَاجٗا
                  On that Day, the trumpet will be blown in and you shall come forth in crowds                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 18
                
وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ أَبۡوَٰبٗا
                  The sky will be opened, as if there were doors                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 19
                
وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ فَكَانَتۡ سَرَابًا
                  The mountains will be moved away, as if they were a mirage                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 20
                
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتۡ مِرۡصَادٗا
                  Truly, hell is a place of ambush                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 21
                
لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابٗا
                  a living place for the transgressors                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 22
                
لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحۡقَابٗا
                  They will live in it for ages                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 23
                
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرۡدٗا وَلَا شَرَابًا
                  they will neither taste cool nor any drink in it                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 24
                
إِلَّا حَمِيمٗا وَغَسَّاقٗا
                  except boiling water and pus (dirty wound discharges)                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 25
                
جَزَآءٗ وِفَاقًا
                  as a fitting recompense (for their evil deeds)                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 26
                
إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ لَا يَرۡجُونَ حِسَابٗا
                  Surely, they never expected a reckoning (for their deeds)                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 27
                
وَكَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كِذَّابٗا
                  and denied Our revelations with strong denial                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 28
                
وَكُلَّ شَيۡءٍ أَحۡصَيۡنَٰهُ كِتَٰبٗا
                  But We have recorded every thing in a book                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 29
                
فَذُوقُواْ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمۡ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
                  (It will be said): “So you taste (the results of evil actions). We shall give you nothing but increase in punishment.”                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 30
                
إِنَّ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
                  Surely, there will be a success (Paradise) for the righteous                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 31
                
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعۡنَٰبٗا
                  gardens and grape yards                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 32
                
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتۡرَابٗا
                  young mature maidens of equal age                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 33
                
وَكَأۡسٗا دِهَاقٗا
                  full cups (of wine to the brim)                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 34
                
لَّا يَسۡمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغۡوٗا وَلَا كِذَّـٰبٗا
                  they will neither hear vain talk nor any lying in it                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 35
                
جَزَآءٗ مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابٗا
                  a reward from your Lord and a gift beyond their account (for good deeds)                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 36
                
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِۖ لَا يَمۡلِكُونَ مِنۡهُ خِطَابٗا
                  from the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and whatever is between them; the Gracious, before Whom no one will be able to speak (on the Day of Resurrection)                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 37
                
يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفّٗاۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنۡ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابٗا
                  On that Day, the spirit (Gabriel) and the angels will stand in rows; none will speak except the one to whom the Gracious (Allah) will allow to speak, and he will speak what is right                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 38
                
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
                  That is (without doubt) the true Day. Let those who wish, seek a Way back to their Lord (by obeying Him in this world)                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 39
                
إِنَّآ أَنذَرۡنَٰكُمۡ عَذَابٗا قَرِيبٗا يَوۡمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلۡمَرۡءُ مَا قَدَّمَتۡ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلۡكَافِرُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَٰبَۢا
                  Surely, We have warned you of an imminent punishment, on the Day when people will see (the deeds) what their hands have sent forth, and the disbeliever will cry: “Woe to me! Would that I were dust!”                  
                  Surah An-Naba, Verse 40
