Surah An-Naba - English Translation by Ali Bakhtiari Nejad
عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
What do they ask each other about
Surah An-Naba, Verse 1
عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
About the great news
Surah An-Naba, Verse 2
ٱلَّذِي هُمۡ فِيهِ مُخۡتَلِفُونَ
The one that they disagree about it
Surah An-Naba, Verse 3
كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ
No way, they are going to know
Surah An-Naba, Verse 4
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ
Then, no way, they are going to know
Surah An-Naba, Verse 5
أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مِهَٰدٗا
Did We not make the earth a bed (to rest on)
Surah An-Naba, Verse 6
وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَوۡتَادٗا
and the mountains as pins
Surah An-Naba, Verse 7
وَخَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجٗا
And We created you in pairs
Surah An-Naba, Verse 8
وَجَعَلۡنَا نَوۡمَكُمۡ سُبَاتٗا
And We made your sleep as a rest
Surah An-Naba, Verse 9
وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلَّيۡلَ لِبَاسٗا
And We made the night as a cover
Surah An-Naba, Verse 10
وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشٗا
And We made the day as a livelihood (to earn a living)
Surah An-Naba, Verse 11
وَبَنَيۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعٗا شِدَادٗا
And We built seven stable (skies) above you
Surah An-Naba, Verse 12
وَجَعَلۡنَا سِرَاجٗا وَهَّاجٗا
And We made (sun) a glowing lamp
Surah An-Naba, Verse 13
وَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلۡمُعۡصِرَٰتِ مَآءٗ ثَجَّاجٗا
And We sent down plenty of rain from the dense clouds
Surah An-Naba, Verse 14
لِّنُخۡرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبّٗا وَنَبَاتٗا
that We bring out with it grain and plant
Surah An-Naba, Verse 15
وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلۡفَافًا
and dense (and luxurious) gardens
Surah An-Naba, Verse 16
إِنَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ كَانَ مِيقَٰتٗا
Indeed the day of separation/decision is an appointed time
Surah An-Naba, Verse 17
يَوۡمَ يُنفَخُ فِي ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأۡتُونَ أَفۡوَاجٗا
A day when the trumpet is blown and you come in bunches
Surah An-Naba, Verse 18
وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ أَبۡوَٰبٗا
And the sky is opened and becomes gates
Surah An-Naba, Verse 19
وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ فَكَانَتۡ سَرَابًا
and the mountains are moved and become a mirage
Surah An-Naba, Verse 20
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتۡ مِرۡصَادٗا
Indeed hell is an ambush
Surah An-Naba, Verse 21
لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابٗا
as a place of return for the rebellious ones
Surah An-Naba, Verse 22
لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحۡقَابٗا
staying in it for a long time
Surah An-Naba, Verse 23
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرۡدٗا وَلَا شَرَابًا
They do not taste anything cool or any drink in it
Surah An-Naba, Verse 24
إِلَّا حَمِيمٗا وَغَسَّاقٗا
except boiling water and pus
Surah An-Naba, Verse 25
جَزَآءٗ وِفَاقًا
An appropriate punishment
Surah An-Naba, Verse 26
إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ لَا يَرۡجُونَ حِسَابٗا
They were not expecting an accounting
Surah An-Naba, Verse 27
وَكَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كِذَّابٗا
and they strongly denied Our signs
Surah An-Naba, Verse 28
وَكُلَّ شَيۡءٍ أَحۡصَيۡنَٰهُ كِتَٰبٗا
while We keep track of everything in a book
Surah An-Naba, Verse 29
فَذُوقُواْ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمۡ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
So taste (the punishment), for We never add anything to you except punishment
Surah An-Naba, Verse 30
إِنَّ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
Indeed victory is for those who control themselves
Surah An-Naba, Verse 31
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعۡنَٰبٗا
Fenced gardens and vineyards
Surah An-Naba, Verse 32
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتۡرَابٗا
and fully developed maidens of the same age
Surah An-Naba, Verse 33
وَكَأۡسٗا دِهَاقٗا
and overflowing cups
Surah An-Naba, Verse 34
لَّا يَسۡمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغۡوٗا وَلَا كِذَّـٰبٗا
They do not hear any useless talk or any lies in there
Surah An-Naba, Verse 35
جَزَآءٗ مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابٗا
A reward from your Master, a calculated reward
Surah An-Naba, Verse 36
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِۖ لَا يَمۡلِكُونَ مِنۡهُ خِطَابٗا
(a reward from the) Master of the skies and the earth and whatever is between them, the beneficent. They do not have any authority from Him to talk
Surah An-Naba, Verse 37
يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفّٗاۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنۡ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابٗا
A day when the spirit and the angels stand in a row, they do not speak except anyone whom the beneficent permits him and he says what is right
Surah An-Naba, Verse 38
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
This is the day of the truth. Therefore anyone who wants, he takes a way of return to his Master
Surah An-Naba, Verse 39
إِنَّآ أَنذَرۡنَٰكُمۡ عَذَابٗا قَرِيبٗا يَوۡمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلۡمَرۡءُ مَا قَدَّمَتۡ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلۡكَافِرُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَٰبَۢا
Indeed We warned you of a forthcoming punishment, a day when a person looks at what his hands sent ahead, and the disbeliever says: I wish I was dust
Surah An-Naba, Verse 40
