Surah An-Naziat - English Translation by Ali Bakhtiari Nejad
وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَٰتِ غَرۡقٗا
By those who pull out intensely
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 1
وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَٰتِ نَشۡطٗا
and by those who let out gently
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 2
وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَٰتِ سَبۡحٗا
and by those who swim/float smoothly
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 3
فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَٰتِ سَبۡقٗا
and by those who move ahead, outpacing
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 4
فَٱلۡمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمۡرٗا
and by those who manage an affair
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 5
يَوۡمَ تَرۡجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ
on a day that the earthquake shakes (the earth)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 6
تَتۡبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ
the subsequent one follows it
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 7
قُلُوبٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ وَاجِفَةٌ
on that day hearts tremble
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 8
أَبۡصَٰرُهَا خَٰشِعَةٞ
their eyes humbled (looking down)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 9
يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرۡدُودُونَ فِي ٱلۡحَافِرَةِ
they say: will we be restored to the original form
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 10
أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰمٗا نَّخِرَةٗ
even when we are decomposed bones
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 11
قَالُواْ تِلۡكَ إِذٗا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٞ
They say: then that would be a losing return
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 12
فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجۡرَةٞ وَٰحِدَةٞ
Then it is only a single scream
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 13
فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ
and they are immediately awake
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 14
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ
Did the story of Moses come to you
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 15
إِذۡ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلۡوَادِ ٱلۡمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
When his Master called him in the holy valley of Tuwa
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 16
ٱذۡهَبۡ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ
go to Pharaoh for indeed he rebelled
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 17
فَقُلۡ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ
Then say: do you like to purify (and absolve) yourself
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 18
وَأَهۡدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخۡشَىٰ
and I guide you to your Master so you would fear (Him)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 19
فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلۡأٓيَةَ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ
Then he showed him the great miracle
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 20
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ
But he denied and disobeyed
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 21
ثُمَّ أَدۡبَرَ يَسۡعَىٰ
then he turned his back trying (against God)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 22
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ
Then he gathered (his people) and called out
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 23
فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ
and said: I am your master, the highest
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 24
فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰٓ
So God took him with exemplary punishment of the hereafter and this life
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 25
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبۡرَةٗ لِّمَن يَخۡشَىٰٓ
Indeed there is a lesson in that for anyone who fears (God)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 26
ءَأَنتُمۡ أَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُۚ بَنَىٰهَا
Are you harder to create or the sky that He built it
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 27
رَفَعَ سَمۡكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا
He raised its roof and arranged it
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 28
وَأَغۡطَشَ لَيۡلَهَا وَأَخۡرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا
And He darkened its nights and brought out its daylight
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 29
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ
And after that He expanded the earth
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 30
أَخۡرَجَ مِنۡهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرۡعَىٰهَا
He brought out its water and its pasture from it
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 31
وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَرۡسَىٰهَا
and He set the mountains firm
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 32
مَتَٰعٗا لَّكُمۡ وَلِأَنۡعَٰمِكُمۡ
An enjoyment for you and your livestock
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 33
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ
So when the great disaster comes
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 34
يَوۡمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ
a day when the human being remembers what he tried
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 35
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلۡجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ
and the hellfire is exposed for anyone who sees
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 36
فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ
So anyone who rebelled
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 37
وَءَاثَرَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا
and preferred this world's life
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 38
فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ هِيَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ
then indeed the hellfire is the housing (for him)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 39
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفۡسَ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰ
And as for someone who is afraid of his Master's position and prevents himself from the desires
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 40
فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ هِيَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ
then indeed the garden is the housing (for him)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 41
يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرۡسَىٰهَا
They ask you about the hour that when does it come in
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 42
فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكۡرَىٰهَآ
In what (basis) would you mention it (when you have no knowledge of it)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 43
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ
Its ending is up to your Master
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 44
إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخۡشَىٰهَا
You are only a warner for anyone who fears it
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 45
كَأَنَّهُمۡ يَوۡمَ يَرَوۡنَهَا لَمۡ يَلۡبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوۡ ضُحَىٰهَا
A day that they see it, it is as if they stayed an evening or its morning
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 46
