Surah An-Naziat - English Translation by Muhammad Taqi Ud Din Al Hilali And Muhammad Muhsin Khan
وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَٰتِ غَرۡقٗا
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 1
وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَٰتِ نَشۡطٗا
By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 2
وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَٰتِ سَبۡحٗا
And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 3
فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَٰتِ سَبۡقٗا
And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 4
فَٱلۡمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمۡرٗا
And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 5
يَوۡمَ تَرۡجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ
On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 6
تَتۡبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ
The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 7
قُلُوبٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ وَاجِفَةٌ
(Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 8
أَبۡصَٰرُهَا خَٰشِعَةٞ
Their eyes cast down
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 9
يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرۡدُودُونَ فِي ٱلۡحَافِرَةِ
They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 10
أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰمٗا نَّخِرَةٗ
Even after we are crumbled bones
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 11
قَالُواْ تِلۡكَ إِذٗا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٞ
They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 12
فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجۡرَةٞ وَٰحِدَةٞ
But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 13
فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ
When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 14
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ
Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 15
إِذۡ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلۡوَادِ ٱلۡمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 16
ٱذۡهَبۡ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ
Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 17
فَقُلۡ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ
And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 18
وَأَهۡدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخۡشَىٰ
And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 19
فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلۡأٓيَةَ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ
Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 20
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ
But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 21
ثُمَّ أَدۡبَرَ يَسۡعَىٰ
Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 22
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ
Then he gathered his people and cried aloud
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 23
فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ
Saying: "I am your lord, most high
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 24
فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰٓ
So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 25
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبۡرَةٗ لِّمَن يَخۡشَىٰٓ
Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 26
ءَأَنتُمۡ أَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُۚ بَنَىٰهَا
Are you more difficult to create, or is the heaven that He constructed
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 27
رَفَعَ سَمۡكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا
He raised its height, and He has equally ordered it
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 28
وَأَغۡطَشَ لَيۡلَهَا وَأَخۡرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا
Its night He covers with darkness, and its forenoon He brings out (with light)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 29
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ
And after that He spread the earth
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 30
أَخۡرَجَ مِنۡهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرۡعَىٰهَا
And brought forth therefrom its water and its pasture
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 31
وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَرۡسَىٰهَا
And the mountains He has fixed firmly
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 32
مَتَٰعٗا لَّكُمۡ وَلِأَنۡعَٰمِكُمۡ
(To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 33
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ
But when there comes the greatest catastrophe (i.e. the Day of Recompense, etc)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 34
يَوۡمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ
The Day when man shall remember what he strove for
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 35
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلۡجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ
And Hell-fire shall be made apparent in full view for (every) one who sees
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 36
فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ
Then, for him who Tagha (transgressed all bounds, in disbelief, oppression and evil deeds of disobedience to Allah)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 37
وَءَاثَرَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا
And preferred the life of this world (by following his evil desires and lusts)
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 38
فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ هِيَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ
Verily, his abode will be Hell-fire
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 39
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفۡسَ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰ
But as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires, and lusts
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 40
فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ هِيَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ
Verily, Paradise will be his abode
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 41
يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرۡسَىٰهَا
They ask you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) about the Hour, - when will be its appointed time
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 42
فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكۡرَىٰهَآ
You have no knowledge to say anything about it
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 43
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ
To your Lord belongs (the knowledge of) the term thereof
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 44
إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخۡشَىٰهَا
You (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) are only a warner for those who fear it
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 45
كَأَنَّهُمۡ يَوۡمَ يَرَوۡنَهَا لَمۡ يَلۡبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوۡ ضُحَىٰهَا
The Day they see it, (it will be) as if they had not tarried (in this world) except an afternoon or a morning
Surah An-Naziat, Verse 46
